20 Scholarships to Pre-MBA Strategic Retreat

Crimson Oak is conducting a 5-day Enhanced Pre-MBA Workshop at the Ritz Carlton, Montego Bay, Jamaica (May 27th-31st). Kevin Omar Williams, CEO of Crimson Oak and a Member of AIESEC Boston’s Board of Advisors has allocated 20 scholarships for AIESEC members and Alumni.

Successful Completion of swITch Project in Africa

With the active support of the P&G Alumni Network, a group of dedicated AIESEC Alumni at P&G, AIESEC in Africa has successfully implemented the inspiring swITch project in 9 countries. Over the last 6 months, 87 interns from around the world engaged 3,800 high school students across Africa to enhance their IT literacy skills and improve their opportunities for life.

AAIA President Elected

At its fourth congress, on March 15th in Lima, AIESEC Alumni IberoAmerica elected Juan Manuel Ferron its new President for 2010-2012.
Juan Manuel joined AIESEC in 1977, where he created the La Salle local committee, served as President of AIESEC in Mexico 1979-1981, and served on AIESEC International 1981-1982. He has contributed intensively to the development of the Alumni Community in Latin American and wants to strengthen the network to provide a distinctive and prestigious platform for cross country business opportunities. In his professional life, Juan Manuel Ferron is a partner at PWC in Mexico, leading the Consulting Division.
Please join us in congratulating Juan Manuel and wishing him and his team much success!

AIESEC Alumni gathered in the beautiful Lemdina resort on the Tunisian Mediterranean coast in February to join forces once again at the AIESEC Alumni International Meeting (parallel to AIESEC’s IPM). Among the speakers the Minister of Higher Education and the Minister of Economic Development. The presentation on Desertec, the big desert solar project, grabbed the interest of all participants. If you would like a copy of any of the presentations, please write to us at aai-board@aiesec-alumni.org.
The meeting was followed by a study tour in the beautiful Tunisian South, where participants visited a desert village, stopped at a picturesque oasis, and visited Nafta, a very old city known for its religious significance. The highlight for movie buffs was a jeep safari in the desert to see the sets and location where the Star Wars movies were filmed! AAI would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful Organizing Committee for all their hard work in making this event a success.

Short Summary of the strategic Changes:
Three major strategic changes were introduced:
• The Cluster Approach (a new way of clustering countries in AIESEC globally and letting go of the current regional structures)
• Global Shared Services (making the global services model better suited for all countries in the network and adding more overall flexibility to the system)
• Minimum Standards (a new way for countries to become Full Members in the association through a system that encourages performance and growth)
AIESEC 2015: The AI team have started the first conversations on how AIESEC should look in 2015.
Website: A new version of the global website www.aiesec.org will be launched at the end of the month. It will be more professional than it is currently, will have an online registration form for student to sign up to AIESEC, and will have content in line with the SEO strategy AIESEC is implementing.
Competency model: A new competency model was launched, which defines 5 key competencies for an AIESECer.
LEAD: A customized 1 year leadership program was launched in partnership with Future Considerations. The AI team will sponsor the program (€8000) for this year as a recognition to the global association for record-breaking performance in achievement of AIESEC 2010.
AI 2011 Budget: The budget for the next term was passed. There is an overall increase in the budget of app.127T€.
AIESEC Elects New President

AIESEC Member Committees Presidents from around the world gathered at the International Presidents’ Meeting in Hammamet at the end of February to elect a new President to lead them in the 2010-2011 term. Hugo Pereira, originally from Portugal, is the new PAI. Please join us in congratulating Hugo and wishing him and AIESEC a very successful term. Hugo is currently in the process of selecting his AIESEC International team.

Brussels Airline: New Partnership

Foundation of AIESEC Alumni Portugal - Alumni Movement goes on!

AIESEC Alumni Portugal was legally established on October, 16th! Congratulations to our Portuguese alumni!
They organisation will meet and be presented the first time at a Gala event taking place in Lisbon on December 12th marking the 50th anniversary of AIESEC in Portugal.

Survey on new services like video seminar and webinar

In response to member feedback, AIESEC Alumni International is introducing a new service available to all alumni. In partnership with PPV Knowledge Networks, founded and run by a fellow alumnus, AAI will soon be launching a series of online video seminars, or “webinars”, on various professional and social topics presented by renowned AIESEC alumni and experts from around the world.

More than 150 alumni from 25 countries arrived in Kuala Lumpur to attend the AIESEC Alumni Global Conference, organized by AIESEC Alumni Malaysia and AAI.
All reports we’ve heard have been unanimous!:
The organizing committee did an outstanding job of not only putting together an exciting agenda, but also winning the hearts and minds of all delegates with warm Malaysian hospitality.
A big thank also to Hiro Kinashi, President of Japan's AIESEC Alumni for all his work behind the scenes contributing to the success of the event.

AIESEC Alumni Armenia was founded at the 20th anniversary of AIESEC Armenia!

AESEC in Armenia celebrated its 20th anniversary on September 4th-5th 2009. The occasion also saw the launch of the initiative to establish AIESEC Alumni Armenia, which will focus on youth and entrepreneurship.

Special guests were founders and alumni of AIESEC in Armenia, who are now eminent contributors to society as the Minister of Economy, Nerses Yeritsyan, Vice Minister of Economy, Vahe Danielyan and UN Deputy Chief (Africa Section), Armen Vahradyan, among others.

AIESEC Philippines: "I am an AIESECer Book"

AIESEC in the Philippines is undertaking a project to capture 40 years of history in the “I am an AIESECer” book. The book will be a collection of stories, experiences, profiles and pictures, to be launched in December at the 41st anniversary celebrations. AIESEC Alumnus to become next Chairman of ISI

Mr. Jae Chang Lee, alumnus and ex NC Secretary General of AIESEC Korea, is elected as the next Chairman of the International Statistical Institute (ISI), and will officially take over as Chairman in 2011. Mr. Lee was one of four founding members who went to IC to register AIESEC Korea, and is currently Chairman of AIESEC Korea Alumni Association. AAI extends its congratulations to Mr. Lee, and looks forward to meeting him at the conference in Malaysia, which he will be attending. Read more.
Dutch LC held highly successful Alumni Event

AIESEC Utrecht, a relatively new Local Committee at just twelve years old, held a very successful alumni event at the University of Utrecht in May, attended by 75 alumni and trainees. AIESEC Utrecht organised this event to help alumni relive their unforgettable years with AIESEC and to show them that all their efforts in the past have led to one of the best LCs in the world! AIESEC Utrecht also wanted to remind its alumni that a trainee can add a lot of talent and diversity to their companies. However, the main goal of the alumni event was to give everyone the chance to see each other again and to renew the strong ties. Pictures of the event are available here.

AIESEC Alumni Global Conference Goes Truly Global!

More than 115 alumni from all over the world are attending the AIESEC Alumni Global Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on August 28th - 30th. Alumni from the Americas, Africa, Europe and of course, Asia-Pacific are attending the conference, and represent AIESEC generations from 1959 to 2008 and every decade in between!
The conference fee, inclusive of 3 nights’ accommodation, meals, snacks, drinks, Gala Dinner, Hall of Fame event, parties and AAGC merchandise, is approx. €304/ US$378 – or €206/ US$257 without accommodation.
The conference is followed by a 4 day study tour of Kuala Lumpur and Penang from August 31st – 3rd September. Total cost for the four days is only approx. €146 - inclusive of accommodation, travel, meals and sightseeing.
Discounts to Kuala Lumpur are available on Malaysian Airlines. There is also a 66% rebate on room tariffs at the Mines Wellness Resort for alumni who would like to arrive a few days early. Rumour has it that many alumni and their families are using the conference as that perfect excuse to visit Malaysia, looked after with warm AIESEC hospitality.

When a few young AIESEC Alumni met in the Boston area for their MBA studies at Brandeis Graduate School, they decided to connect with the AIESEC local committee, but discovered that all the old chapters had closed down.
Ever the AIESECers, these enterprising alumni called AIESEC US, formed a student organisation on campus, and are now an official extension! The new LCP and EB are all alumni of other countries/ LCs, willing to put in the time and effort to start the chapter to give future undergraduates the AIESEC experience. Foundation of AIESEC Alumni Argentina! - Alumni Movement goes global!

In the months since the successful AIESEC Alumni Congress at AIESEC’s IC 2008 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Latin America has seen its Alumni reconnecting with renewed vigor. One of the latest exciting results is the foundation of AIESEC Alumni Argentina. Congratulations to our Argentinean alumni!
We look forward to similar continent-wide movements following on from the two planned international alumni conferences in 2009 - in Europe and in Asia/Pacific - Rome, Italy in February and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in August.

AIESEC Alumnus Wins 2008 Nobel Peace Prize

Martti Ahtisaari is awarded the 2008 Nobel Peace Prize "for his important efforts, on several continents and over more than three decades, to resolve international conflicts“. Throughout his adult life, Martti, an Alumnus of AIESEC in Finland, has worked for peace and reconciliation. He has served as a senior Finnish public servant and President, as well as in an international capacity, often connected to the United Nations. For the past twenty years, he has figured prominently in endeavors to resolve several serious and long-lasting conflicts.
Today Mr. Ahtisaari is an outstanding international mediator. Through his untiring efforts and good results, he has shown what role mediation can play in the resolution of international conflicts. When announcing the award, the Norwegian Nobel Committee expressed the hope that others may be inspired by his efforts and his achievements. Please join us in congratulating Martti on this very well deserved recognition of his impact on the world.
AIESEC-Korea Alumni Association has become a legal entity

In September, 2008, AIESEC-Korea Alumni Association has become an "Incorporated Association". Thus, companies will be able to relate better to AIESEC Korea and its alumni organisation as it has become a legal entity. So the future for AIESEC-Korea Alumni Association looks good. They celebrated this large step forward at Korea's 46th Anniversary Congress, which was held on October 20, 2008 at the Imperial Palace Hotel 7F Convention Center, Seoul Korea.

AI reunion meeting, Brussels 2008

AIESEC International Alumni from across 60 generations gathered in Brussels on 27th – 29th June to celebrate 60 years since the founding of AIESEC.
AI Alumni, as well as alumni of AIESEC in Belgium and members of AAI attended a packed and invigorating three days of meeting old friends and new, celebrating the past 60 years, and discussing our role for the future. Read more

AAI Congress 2008
